about that “gremlin style is your TRUE style” thing —

i get that some folk have an “outside world” persona (including clothes) that isn’t (fully) congruent with their whole-selves.

but that’s not who *i* am and what i’m doing-! i contain multitudes. tuesday my multitude was jeans and an old tshirt. today it is a sharp outfit, socks-match-the-shirt, whole deal. don’t put me in a box! 😂

(ps: from what you share, your clothing choices also cover a wide range. 🙌🏼 it’s fun to get to play with clothes!)

Yesss completely agree with the multitudes. It's really interesting when we think about channelling a persona via fashion when it's not really ‘ourselves’ because we get into much deeper questions about style and identity. I also really love the idea of being flexible and having fun - the socks match the shirt kind of outfit is right up my alley!!

The purple skirt with the aqua (or teal) top looks so good. It’s night now so my home outfit right now are gym shorts and a striped tee but I find that if I spend too many days in outfits like this I start to feel like a shell of myself. I guess both are me but they have to feel intentional!

Thank you! I've been in a purple and greens kind of mood lately and it's been a common colour combo. It's funny cause gym shorts and a striped tee or rugly polo was ‘trending’ at one point! So I think you're right, it's all about intention. I definitely have a mood shift when I change into my ‘outside’ clothes as well.

Spectacular colours. Especially for your birthday.

Belated happy birthday! I love the birthday outfit, even if it wasn’t your original plan (and the skirt fit was off… hate a bad size chart).

I couldn’t disagree more with the idea that my house clothes are my actual style, because I think that separates functionality from the clothes. And honestly I don’t typically change as soon as I get home, but I realize we’re all different in this regard.

Thank you!! I find generic size charts so difficult because they're often different to how the garments actually fit. I'm glad I had something that felt a little surprising or new?

I change right away! But occasionally if I stay in my outside clothes, I do feel like I embody a different energy. I don't think my house clothes are my actual style either but there is an ease/sense of relief when I'm less worried about being put together.
